MORE ABOUT WIRETAPPING		There are at least a dozen ways for a pro to tap your telephone today, but three stand out as the most common: We know that you can purchase equipment that will start a tape recorder rolling when a telephone receiver is lifted off its hook. The recorder can be connected to the telephone either inductively or by direct wiring There is also a transmitting bug that actually draws its power from the telephone line itself (not needing a battery). Whenever the phone is off the hook, the eavesdropper can hear both sides of the conversation. This is a particularly insidious wiretap because once installed, it is no longer ever necessary to have physical access to the telephone again. Another tricky thing about this particular bug is that it can be placed anywhere between your actual phone and the central office! Then, there's the Infinity Transmitter which will enable the eavesdropper to hear all conversations in a room, even when the phone is still in its cradle.
